Bachelor of Science (B.S.E.): The Bachelor of Science in Education is for students pursuing a Missouri Teaching Certification. This degree is a solid basis for those who want to choose a specific concentration in the following areas:
The B.S.E. in Early Childhood Education program covers the education of children from birth through third grade. This program leads to Missouri Teaching Certification.
The B.S.E. in Elementary Education program covers the education of children from first grade through sixth grade and requires a concentration in either art, fine art, language arts, mathematics, science, science and mathematics, or social studies. This program leads to a Missouri Teaching Certificate.
The B.S.E. in Middle School Education program covers the education of children from fifth grade through ninth grad and requires concentration in two of the following areas: language arts, mathematics, science or social studies. This program leads to a Missouri Teaching Certificate.
The B.S.E. in Secondary Education program covers the education of children from ninth grade through twelfth grade and requires concentration in one of the following areas: journalism, language arts, mathematics, social studies, unified science-biology or unified science-chemistry. This program leads to a Missouri Teaching Certificate. Students can earn a full second major in many of these areas without adding extra semesters.
Students seeking their B.S.E. may also earn certification to teach art or Spanish K-12. This program leads to a Missouri Teaching Certificate.
